“To kill a mocking bird” is a Pulitzer award winner novel by Elle Harper Lee. The novel is a symbol of premium literature because it signifies the morality of humanity and talks about the innocence that turns into the awareness of the reality of life that is bitter for the innocent minds. The novel was published in 1960 that clearly demonstrates that the racial discrimination that was experienced by the blacks in the 20th century. To kill a Mocking Bird is a pioneer of American literature that had been read by millions of people.

The protagonist of the story is Atticus Finch who is a lawyer by profession and lived in Maycomb with his two kids named Scout Finch and Jem Finch. The story becomes interesting when the protagonist Atticus Finch takes the case in defense of Tom Robinson a black citizen of Maycomb who has been accused by a poor white citizen of Maycomb namely Bob E Well (Lee).

Bob E Well is the most contemptible character of the novel To Kill a Mocking Bird. The most negative traits of his personality become visible in the last chapters of the novel. Bob E Well had been depicted as a man who had been suffering through extreme poverty. Even in the case of extreme poverty he keeps on wasting money by drinking heavily. Bob E Well treats his family inadequately. Throughout the novel he has been rude to his family and beats his daughter, Mayella. Bob E Well hated blacks and always treated them with the discriminating behavior (Lee). Bob E Well beaten his daughter and accused Tom Robinson for raping his daughter. Bob E Well coerces his daughter to be a part of the lie and back up his story that Tom Robinson had attacked her severely. Bob E Well utters such a story out of racism and hatred for the blacks (Lee).
