Many theorists such as Crimp (1980) have overtime defended their ideas that post-modernism in visual arts has been a success simply because of the field of photography. This has been the case because photography is seen as a medium that most effectively brings out the idea of artistic ‘originality’ as an old belief that has been continued by modern culture.

Art photography has been on the quest of challenging this. It has attempted to get rid of any efforts being made to revive ‘aura’ through its technical processes. Artists have made use of these techniques given to them by photography to try and undermine the ‘origins’ and ‘authenticity’ in art.
