In 2005, Bush stated that “We have seen our vulnerability – and we have seen its deepest source. For as long as whole regions of the world simmer in resentment and tyranny – prone to ideologies that feed hatred and excuse murder – violence will gather, and multiply in destructive power, and cross the most defended borders, and raise a mortal threat” (as cited by Gnorb, n.d).

The statement was a clear indicator of Bush’s realization that America’s peace and security were at stake. The statement also indirectly implied that Bush was aware of America’s enemies and threats. From Bush’s speech, we see a leader who assumes that all is well at home and the world has a lot to learn from America.
