Today the U.N committee for human rights have found the restrictive abortion laws account for 68,000 to 78,000 deaths annually. They do not consider the right to life factor as being applicable to a foetus before its birth. They consider that it is discrimination to now allow women access materials and procedures which could maintain their well being. Similarly it is her right to decide whether the abortion is essential to her well being. Revoking these rights for any reason is to be viewed as cruel and inhuman behaviour ( Human Rights Watch, 2005).
One of the key founding principles of Cultural Relativism states that the morals of a society in a different time may not be applicable to ours today. It is illuminating however to see that both Plato and Aristotle two of history’s greatest thinkers supporting the concept of abortion as the right of the individual.
