There are two methods in which individuals today find themselves being thrust into the institution of marriage. One way is the way of love marriages which is more common in the western world. In this method the individuals find candidates to marry by choosing women of their own volition in society.

The second way is one that is commonly observed in Asian countries and is commonly known as an arranged marriage, where the marriage between individuals is an arrangement between the heads of the families of the bride and groom. This form of marriage is still practiced today in eastern countries such as India and co-exists with its love form. This essay will contend the viewpoint that arranged marriages in Asian countries such as India are more successful than love marriages.
