Robert Brown, in ‘My Last Duchess’ depicts the life of a duke who murdered his duchess. He reveals his nature through the conversation. The poem depicts him as jealous. He wanted the live duchess to admire him and nothing else. As he says, “I know not how—as if she ranked my gift of a nine-hundred-years-old-name with anybody’s gift” (34-36).
