My experience, as I had already stated, was an exact opposite of Kim’s. While he faced rejection, I found acceptance and appreciation from the American residents. This could probably be attributed to the fact that our circumstances were different as we landed in America. Again, the times have changed and globalization has made people around the world appreciate and respect the cultures and dignity of other people. For poor Kim, his parents immigrated at a time when ethnic prejudices were so high that anyone that was not Caucasian was considered to be an inferior being.

My parents and I have significantly adopted the American culture. From their seven year stay in America, my parents took to some of the traits observed among the Americans. They slightly deviated from the rigid and conservative attitude that is associated with my fellow countrymen. It is not a wonder that they sent me to study here! The experience also opened up their minds. As of now, they do have a lot of friends and around the world thanks to their experiences outside the Saudi. On my part, I have also grown fond of the American culture and move along fin with the people.
